Salmon Wilderness Study Area
The Salmon Field Office has one designated Wilderness Study Area, Eighteenmile WSA. It contains approximately 14,796 acres of public lands recommended as suitable for wilderness designation. The landscape within the WSA is mountainous - moving from foothills, to grassy meadows, to the steep cliffs along the Continental Divide. The vegetation within this WSA varies from sagebrush-grass communities at lower elevations, to forests of Douglas fir and lodgepole pine at the higher elevations.
