Long-term care meetings start today at Lab

By Steve Sandoval

September 6, 2006

Los Alamos National Security employees can learn about long-term care insurance at meetings starting today at the Laboratory. Employees recently received information about this type of insurance at their home addresses.

Representatives from John Hancock Financial Services Inc. are talking about long-term care insurance in meetings at 8 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m., today in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.

Long-term-care coverage provides for care that is needed because of age, illness or injury. Such care includes help with basic activities like dressing, bathing and eating.

At the meetings, John Hancock representatives will talk about some of the myths about long-term care insurance, including costs. Employees can ask questions about costs for this type of insurance, what is covered and who is eligible, among other things, said Ellen Fox of the Human Resources Service Center (HR-SVSCTR).

Other meetings - all in the Physics Building Auditorium - are as follows:

• 8, 10, and 11 a.m. Thursday (September 7)
• 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., Friday (September 8)
• 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m., September 12
• 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., September 13.

For more information, contact Miranda Martinez of the HR-SVSCTR at 7-8622. A long term care insurance enrollment kit is available by calling John Hancock Financial Services Inc. at 1-800-903-0777.
