Related Collections of NWP Photographs
In addition to searching the NWP photographs held by the Library of Congress Manuscript Division, researchers are encouraged to consult related holdings elsewhere, principally at the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum in Washington, D.C., and in the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division.
The Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, the National Woman’s Party historic headquarters, holds a collection of photographs, some of which duplicate the NWP photographs donated to the Library of Congress and others that exist only at NWP headquarters in Washington, D.C. For more information, consult the Web site of the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, which is in the process of scanning many of its holdings.
The Prints and Photographs Division holds a small collection of Visual Materials from the Records of the National Woman’s Party. It consists of about 450 posters, postcards, printing plates, and photographs (primarily portraits), which were transferred from the Manuscript Division in 1986. A finding aid for this collection is available online from the Prints and Photographs Division. Digitized images of selected items may be found in the Prints and Photographs Online Catalog by searching on the call number or title. Additional images relating to the NWP sometimes appear in other Prints and Photographs Division collections, especially in the photo archives of news agencies and photographers, such as those of the National Photo Company, George Grantham Bain, and Harris & Ewing.
