The goals of the Conservation Education (CE) Team for the Fire, Fuel, and Smoke Science Program are to: - Increase awareness of the scope and content of FFS research
- Improve understanding of fundamental concepts in wildland fire science
- Increase interest in the application of science to wildland management
The objectives of the CE Team are to: - Increase awareness of CE at Fire Lab, increase staff participation in CE, help integrate CE into FFS Program
- Enhance recording and evaluation of CE program components
- Provide CE information on firelab.org
- Develop partnerships that enlarge audience for FFS CE, increase effectiveness of program, and share information
- Provide a hospitable learning environment for groups who visit the Fire Lab for formal tours
- Increase understanding of wildland fire science; increase knowledge of research tools and methods
- Develop and provide high-quality materials for teaching fundamental concepts of fire science. Highlight science methodology & hands-on activities
- Increase knowledge among students of the variety of careers in fire research
- Contribute to development of future scientists
