Interim Laboratory Director Pete Nanos, right, talks with Española Mayor Richard Lucero outside the Mision Convento during a visit last Friday. Nanos toured the city with the mayor, city councilors and other officials. The visit was one in a series to neighboring communities as Nanos attempts to better understand community interests that may impact the Laboratory. Nanos toured a proposed regional transportation site location, the Prince Ranch, which is the planned regional water filtering site, the city’s industrial park, a proposed city-sponsored youth center, the Española Plaza and Mision Convento. A small number of Laboratory officials and Española elected and appointed officials joined the Mayor and Nanos on the tour. Photo courtesy of Community Relations (CRO) Office
