World's Largest Pancake Breakfast
Originally a celebration of the United States
Bicentennial in 1976, the breakfast was revived in 1986 for
Springfield's 350th anniversary and has been held every year since
then in mid-May. Hundreds of volunteers help with the event, which
provided 71,233 servings of pancakes to more than 40,000 people in
1999.
