DVR animal behaviorists provide expertise and consultation to NIH investigators and veterinarians. DVR behavior and environmental enrichment staff also design programs to enrich environments and ensure the psychological well-being of research animals. Programs using social housing, manipulable objects, food treats, exercise, animal training and conditioning, innovative housing, or human interactions have been established for each animal species maintained in DVR facilities.
