Welcome to the Department of
Entomology and Wildlife Ecology

The Department offers outstanding academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students preparing for research, teaching, and Extension careers in entomology, ecology and wildlife conservation. Our teaching, research, and extension efforts emphasize whole-organism biology, conservation biology, and the interactions between humans and other species.

The Department has a long history of providing excellent teaching, advisement, and research experience to undergraduates, and strong research programs in biological control, behavioral ecology and evolution, plant/insect interactions, wildlife ecology, medical entomology, and taxonomy to graduate students.

We currently have 9 faculty members and 14 adjunct faculty who teach, mentor and advise approximately 120 undergraduate majors and 33 graduate students in our Masters and Ph.D. programs.

In addition to connections with other University programs, the Department enjoys productive relationships with the Philadelphia Academy of Science, the USDA Beneficial Insect Research Laboratory, the Stroud Water Research Center, the Smithsonian Institute, Stine-Haskell Research Laboratories at DuPont, Delaware Nature Society, the US Forest Service, the Delaware Invasive Species Council, Delaware Department of Agriculture, and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
