Shared Service centers allow HCA to improve performance and reduce costs by consolidating several non-clinical, administrative functions. Those functions include Patient Account Services (PAS), Supply Chain Services (SCS) and Financial & Employee Services (F&ES).
HCA's Shared Services operation centralized their hospital business functions into locations separate from the hospitals. Each Shared Services location services about 15 hospitals and has between 500 and 800 employees. These three divisions have positions ranging from cashier and customer service representative to collection and billing specialist.
