House of Representatives passes Job Training Reform Bill
 

Washington, DC, March 2 - Today the House of Representatives passed the Job Training Improvement Act that begins the reforms called for in the President's Job Training Reform Proposal including consolidation of the three primary adult funding streams.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor Carries Positive Economic Message to Mississippi Health Care Summit
 On June 25th, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco delivered an encouraging message on the economy and the future of the health care industry at the Healthcare Workforce Summit: Accepting the Challenge in Jackson. DeRocco joined Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour in addressing over 300 healthcare industry representatives and educators from throughout the state on the solutions developed to help prepare workers for skilled jobs in health care.

Workforce Innovations 2004
 Workforce Innovations 2004 is back in the saddle again in San Antonio, TX! As the nation's premier conference for the workforce investment system, it's the one time of year in which we draw and benefit from the wide range of people who interact with the workforce investment system. Dynamic and provocative men and women from business, education, and our own field will have much to offer to continually improve the way we conduct business. President Bush Announces Funding to Serve Returning Members of the National Guard and Military Reserves
 To inform the state workforce investment system of the opportunity to apply for Secretary's discretionary National Emergency Grant(NEG) funds, pursuant to the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Title I, Section 173, as amended, to provide employment-related assistance for members of the National Guard and Military Reserves who were required to interrupt or postpone employment-related assistance (including training funded by Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)) in order to fulfill requirements involving deployment to Iraq, Afghanistan or other locations.

Departmentof Labor Updates Foreign Labor Certification Regulations
 The U.S. Department of Labor published new regulations for the Permanent Foreign Labor Certification program on December 27, 2004. These new regulations will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the program designed to help employers meet workforce needs when there are no available American workers to fill an available job.
