Services available to assist Lab staff during suspension of operations

A number of services are available to assist Laboratory personnel in working toward resuming operations in a safe and secure manner and in compliance with all rules and procedures.

The services range from the Ombuds Office to the Laboratory's Employee Assistance Program. Assistance also is available from the Human Resources (HR) Division through generalists assigned across the Lab and through Staff Relations (HR-SR).

Some of the services and how they may assist Lab workers are summarized below:

  • Ombuds Office provides confidential assistance and organizational assistance to resolve conflict causes at its roots. The Ombuds Office offers customized training in workplace communication and conflict response, and can provide assistance in facilitating issue identification through a safe, anonymous process. The Ombuds Office maintains a roster of relevant services for a variety of situations. Call 5-BUDS (5-2837) or the anonymous Helpline at 7-9370.
  • Organizational Development Office provides assistance by working closely with organizations to identify productivity barriers, and to provide customized help to optimize programmatic effectiveness and excellence, using a wide array of specialized tools and knowledge, depending on the organizational challenges involved.
  • The Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) can provide assistance about questions of discrimination, profiling or employment bias.
  • Employee Assistance Program offers confidential counseling and behavioral health services, as well as stress management programming, grief management and support programming for substance abuse situations.
  • Staff Relations (HR-SR) can assist on issues involving retaliation, sexual harassment, claims of employee or manager misconduct and other violations of Laboratory policy. It provides coaching on approaches to employee behavior or performance concerns, and responds to issues involving collective bargaining concerns.
  • HR generalists and the central services of HR, such as Benefits and Employment Services (HR-B) and the Office of Complaint Resolution Services. Various services offered by HR are being stood up systematically as expeditiously as possible.
