High Output Lanthanide Halide Nanoparticle Phosphors for Large Area Radiation Detectors
Abstract
Our invention is the controlled precipitation of lanthanide halides to yield uniform, nanometer-size, doped phosphors and mixtures thereof. The synthesis of inorganic nanocrystals with controlled shape, size, composition, doping, internal structure, and surface chemistry may be highly desirable for homeland security and medical imaging applications.
Application(s)
• Telecommunications
• Large scale scintillators
• Microelectronics
• Data storage
• Tribology
• Lighting and displays
Advantages
• Reduced light scattering
• Greater efficiency
• Significantly lower cost (than single crystal)
• Easily controlled shape, size, composition, & doping
IP Status: Available both Exclusively and Non Exclusively
Commercialization Strategy: We are seeking to license this technology either non-exclusively or exclusively for specific field of use. We would also entertain offers to work collaboratively in the form of Cooperative Research & Development Agreements (CRADA). Any agreement contract is expected to include funds-in to the Laboratory.
