Nanophosphor composite scintillators comprising a polymer matrix
Abstract
This invention is a new class of scintillators that could be used for large volume, low cost radiation detection with applications in Homeland Security, International Safeguards, Scientific Research, and Medical Imaging.
Application(s)
Radiation Detection
Homeland Security
Nuclear Safety
International Safeguards
Medical Imaging
PET imaging machines
Other medical imagers
Advantages
The technology combines the high stopping power and photoelectric cross-section of inorganic crystalline scintillators with the processing costs of organic scintillators.
High Stopping Power
Low Processing Costs
Much easier to produce than single-crystal scintillators
Improved Light Output
