Superconducting Composite Structures

Abstract
This invention is a superconducting article including a substrate, a layer of material selected from the group consisting of MgO and YSZ upon the substrate, at least one buffer layer upon the layer of MgO or YSZ, and, a layer of a high temperature superconducting material upon a topmost buffer layer wherein the topmost buffer layer adjacent to the high temperature superconducting material is characterized as being from about 25 Angstroms to about 180 Angstroms in thickness.
