Continuous Air Monitor Inlet Virtual Impactor Apparatus for Removal of Fine Particle Components

Abstract
A single stage apparatus for use in environmental samplers or monitors designed for the removal of a substantial fraction of the fine particle load in sampled air, especially particles in the size range of smoke and fine dusts, while preserving the capture of larger particles of concern. The apparatus extends the life of the internal sample collection filters by reducing their premature clogging by fine particles.

Application(s)
This technology is more applicable to the Environmental Continuous Air Monitor (ECAM) and other field deployed continuous air monitoring systems due the types of environments that they are likely to be subjected to (smoke, haze, re-suspended fine dirt particulates).

Advantages

  • Increased airflow
  • Increased sensitivity
  • Fewer false alarms
