Single photon imaging and timing array sensor apparatus & method

Abstract
An apparatus and method for generating a 3-D image of an object or target. The apparatus is comprised of a photon source for emitting a photon at a target. Emitted photons are received by a photon receiver when reflected from the target. The photon receiver determines the reflection time and arrival position on receiver, from which an analyzer generates a 3-D image of the object.

Application(s)

  • quality control of manufactured parts to check tolerances, fit & finish, e.g. in manufacture of autos, aircraft, machined parts
  • aerial mapping

Advantages
Minimizes the number of data points and analysis time required to image a 3-D object.
