High-Rate Buffer Layer for IBAD MGO Coated Conductors

Abstract
A method for making one of the layers in high temperature superconducting coated conductors more commercially viable.  A buffer layer currently deposited by pulsed laser deposition is replaced by another material deposited by reactive sputtering and which has equally good properties.

Application(s)
Coated conductors/high temperature superconductivity

Advantages
Reduced manufacturing costs
