Typhoon Kirogi is shown on July 5, 2000 in this true-color image from the Sea-viewing Wide-Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS). Approximately 600 miles off the eastern side of northern Luzon in the Philippines, Kirogi is moving north toward Japan with sustained winds of 102 mph and gusts up to 124 mph. Floodwaters of up to 10 feet high have inundated villages in central Luzon.
