We live in a culture that increasingly asks for both innovation and evidence. While we quickly reward and celebrate creativity, we are just as quick to move on to a call for "Prove it!", "Show me!", or "Does it really make a difference?"

In our contemporary society, the most promising ideas, inspiring theories, and innovative approaches are subject of intense scrutiny if they are not accompanied by substantiating scientific evidence. Whether trying to better understand the origins of diabetes in children or improve financial decision making, universities are charged with advancing "what we know."

In the College of Education and Human Ecology, this search for knowledge is being applied to some of our most complex social, behavioral, and health-related problems. Our faculty scholars generate theories and empirically test them in laboratories and real world settings. Those ideas and approaches that are validated can then be disseminated to others-thus shaping a better world.

That's what research is about here in the College of Education and Human Ecology. Research that shapes a better world for families and consumers.

The College of Education and Human Ecology is in a position to contribute significantly to our understanding and response to contemporary, complex issues. We take this responsibility very seriously and are working daily to contribute to a broader body of knowledge that will shape a better world.
