Catawba College Staffer Inducted into High School Hall of Fame

Rashad Smith of Salisbury, Associate Dean of Admissions at Catawba College, was recently inducted into the East Rutherford High School Hall of Fame. Smith, a 1996 graduate of East Rutherford High, participated in football and track and field there.


Date Set for Installation of Catawba College's 21st President

Dr. W. Craig Turner will officially be installed as Catawba College's 21st President on President's Day, Monday, February 16, 2009. The date coincides with the federal holiday, Washington's Birthday or President's Day, and the annual meeting of the College's Board of Trustees.


Catawba President Asks Trustees to "Dream for Us"

Catawba College's President, Dr. Craig Turner, asked college trustees to "dream for us" during remarks he made at that group's semi-annual meeting held October 20 and 21 on campus. The meeting marked Turner's first official one with trustees since joining the institution as its 21st president on June 1.


Tom Smith Honored by Trustees

Tom E. Smith of Salisbury, who has served for the past 11 years as chairman of the Catawba College Board of Trustees, turned the reins over to Paul Fisher of Salisbury at the Board's semi-annual meeting held October 20-21 at the college.


Public Transportation Comes to Catawba College Community

Catawba College students and residents around the campus have more than six months to prove that they'll use the Salisbury Transit system. This thanks to a new agreement worked out between Salisbury Transit and the College's Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling.


Catawba College Moves to Become Green and Clean

Catawba College became a little greener recently. On Monday, August 25th, the institution's housekeeping staff began using green cleaning products in nine buildings on campus. But adoption of the green cleaning products did not just happen, it evolved as housekeeping staff tried various green seal products and made their own assessments about which would do the best job. These staffers also participated in green cleaning training sessions and often reassessed their own ideas of what constitutes


One Card, Many Uses – The Catawba ONE Card

This year, Catawba College students, along with faculty and staff members, are using their Catawba ONE Card. It's their official College picture ID and allows them access to almost everything on campus, but it can also be used like a debit card at some key on-campus locations and at several local merchants.


Opening Convocation Marks New Academic Year and New President at Catawba

Catawba College's opening convocation held Thursday, August 29 in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel marked the start of a new academic year, Catawba's 157th, and a new president, Catawba's 21st. President Dr. W. Craig Turner convened the college and officiated as employees of the College were recognized for their years of service.

When Catawba College faculty and staff gathered for their annual fall conference on August 12th, it was an opportunity for the institution's new president, Dr. W. Craig Turner, to rally the troops before the start of a new academic year.


Catawba College's Office of Waste Reduction & Recycling Touts '07-08 Efforts

The Catawba College's Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, established within the Facilities Department just a year ago, has spearheaded recycling efforts on campus throughout the recently completed academic year. Led by David Najarian, a 1997 Catawba alumnus who serves as waste reduction and recycling coordinator, the new office tracks its successes by the ton.
