Getting started
Thank you for taking the time to complete the RiverMap survey. The survey is made up of four steps with a total of 33 questions. The results will be used to create a database of the organizations and people working to keep the Mississippi River clean and healthy and to help plan action to shrink the Gulf of Mexico's dead zone (hypoxia).

The survey, step by step
  • Steps 1 and 2: Information about your organization and its activities. You will provide information about your organization and any hypoxia-related activities you organize. Steps 1 and 2 have a total of 21 questions. Required fields are marked in red.
  • Step 3 (optional): Help us plan action. This step has 12 questions and your answers will be kept private and anonymous. Your answers will help RiverMap plan the next steps to take toward a cleaner, healthier Mississippi River and Gulf.
  • Step 4: Submit your survey. After you complete your survey, you will have a chance to review and edit your answers. When you're finished, you will receive an email with log in instructions to edit or remove your profile at any time.

    If you can't finish the entire survey in one visit, you can save it and return later to complete it.

  • Fill out all the questions as best you can. Although each question may not be applicable to all organizations, completing the survey as completely as you can will make RiverMap a very powerful tool to promote the good work you do to the public and potential collaborators.
How your answers will be used
  • Creating resources for the public. All information you give us (unless otherwise noted) will be made available to the public through this Web site. The site will be feature:
    • A searchable database of organizations and people working on hypoxia
    • An interactive, real-time map of these organizations
    • Profile pages for each organization
    • A library of participating organizations' publications
  • Planning action. Your answers will help us understand your priorities and organize face-to-face planning meetings with stakeholders like you.
Your privacy
  • Registration is private and free. When you register, you will be able to log in to edit or remove your profile at any time. We will never sell, exchange or give away your email address. Read our privacy policy for more more information about registration and how your email address will be used.
