Update (22 Jun 01): The changes have been made to the GCN program, and the HETE Notices are now being ditributed with the new labels. TO: All GCN Sites Receiving HETE Notices RE: Names changes for the GCN/HETE Notice types DT: 18 Jun 01 My apologies to those sites receiving this announcement that do not receive HETE Notices. It is a fair amount of work to filter this admin message on the same criteria that the GCN Notices get filtered. The HETE Operations Team would like to change the names of the 4 types of Notices that are generated for the mission. The old names and new names are shown below. Actually, only the first 3 (of 4) are changing their names; the Ground Analysis Notice is keeping the same name. The purpose of the name change is to more clearly communicate: 1) the distinction that the first 3 come from the on-board flight software (as opposed to the messages that come from the Ops Team on the ground), and 2) that the "Final" is not really the 'final' message in the process, but merely the 'last' of the on-board generated messages. OLD NEW ===== ========== Alert ==> S/C_Alert Update ==> S/C_Update Final ==> S/C_Last GndAna ==> GndAna These label changes will take place in all the various email-based formats (email, pager, & cellphone) and in the website table (http://gcn.gsfc.nasa.gov/gcn/hete_grbs.html). My apologies to any sites that have built up explicit filtering based on the Notice type field. The change will take place on Wednesday, 20 Jun 01. Sincerely, Scott Barthelmy GCN Ops
