History
Lane was founded in 1964 by a vote of local citizens, and the main campus opened in 1968. The college was a successor to the Eugene Technical-Vocational School that was founded in 1938. Lane has received many awards and accolades for its innovative programs and high quality instruction. The college is a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College, and in 2000 was selected by the league as one of 12 Vanguard Learning Colleges in North America for its outstanding record of achievement and innovation in improving learning.

Living Here
One of the advantages of attending Lane is living in the area. Lane's main campus is in Eugene, a city known for its quality of life and for being the home of the University of Oregon. Eugene (population 148,000) and neighboring Springfield (population 56,000) comprise the second largest population center in the state. In 2002, Bike magazine described Eugene as "a happening college town in a beautiful location" and rated Eugene one of "America's Five Best Mountain Biking Towns." In 2003, Eugene was ranked as one of the top 10 college music towns in America by Rolling Stone. In 2005, Eugene made the list of the “10 Best U.S. Walking Cities.” Eugene and Springfield are nestled in the Willamette Valley between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, and some peaks in the Cascade Range can be seen from main campus. The area's scenic mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and coastline offer many opportunities for outdoor adventuresor for just sitting back and enjoying the view.

Tours
One of the best ways to learn more about Lane is through a guided tour of main campus. Tours are led by current students. If you would like to arrange an individual or group tour, send an e-mail to outreach@lanecc.edu or call the Student Recruitment and Outreach office at (541) 463-5688.
