The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) invites the public to attend a free symposium on Tuesday, April 26, 2005, from 1-5 p.m., held in conjunction with its 11th Annual Science Forum. This free symposium will address, in plain language many important health topics that are critical to both FDA and consumers.
The first speaker is Dr. Harvey Fineberg, President of the Institute of Medicine, talking about the importance of being an educated consumer. This session will give attendees the opportunity to hear leading health experts about what “personalized medicine” really means and how it is predicted to change healthcare in the future. It will also address whether generic drugs are really as good as the original marketed products, and attendees will also have a chance to hear about the newly released “Dietary Guidelines for Americans” and learn whether you really are what you eat.
Presentations will be followed by a question and answer so consumers can be better educated.
