Ethnic conflicts, poverty and diseases in African countries, terrorist attacks and peace negotiations in the Middle East, devastating natural disasters in various countries, environmental degradation in Latin America, public policy and business decisions made in America’s urban centers--the mass media bring these events into your living room today, and their impact may change the way you live and work tomorrow.

Dordt College strives to provide an education that will help you understand global and cross-cultural issues from a biblical perspective, preparing you to live as a Christian in a world that is growing increasingly smaller and more diverse.

One way we do this is by making available a wealth of off-campus study opportunities. Ranging from three weeks in the summer to a full semester, these programs offer qualified students, usually juniors or seniors, from three to 16 hours of credit. A few of the programs are designed for specific majors, but others can be applied in a number of majors. Special scholarships are available to students for many of the programs.

Several programs also offer an internship component, so that you can gain work experience and focus your career goals. Some Dordt graduates have even landed jobs through their off-campus program internship. Other programs feature Christian service opportunities, which many participants report to be life-changing experiences and highlights of their college career.
