Secretary Chao Moderates Panel at White House Conference on the Economy |
WASHINGTON, Dec.
16 - U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao
moderated a panel at the White House Conference on the Economy focusing on
preparing workers for jobs in the 21st Century. The panel analyzed how to
ensure that American workers have the education and skills to fill the jobs our
evolving economy is creating and how to keep America competitive in an
increasingly global economy.

President Bush announces Job Training Reform Proposal |
Washington, DC, February 7 - A major job training reform proposal was announced today in conjunction with the release of President Bush's 2006 budget proposal. The reform proposal grants Governors greater flexibility over job training funds, including the option to consolidate up to nine programs into a single state grant, in exchange for greater accountability and a target goal of 100% employment.
