On this site you will find information on the NASA/GSFC Software Release Policy including procedures, forms, checklists, and guidelines.

Software is a valuable and strategic NASA asset. Software inventions and innovations, like any other NASA technology, should be reported and released in order to maximize its benefit to NASA and the general public.

The Innovative Partnerships Program (IPP) and the Software Release Authority (SRA) at each NASA Center work together to ensure the proper release of software. The process for software release begins with the software developer and ends with the Center SRA’s approval or rejection of the request for the software release. Find out how that process works.
