Skills to Build America's Future

Secretary Chao (second from left) discusses the Labor Department's new Skills Trades Initiative on April 6 with union and industry leaders in Washington. (DOL Photo/Neshan Naltchayan)The Skills to Build America's Future initiative is a partnership among industry and worker representatives to build national awareness of the importance of skilled workers to our economy and nation. This initiative will help keep experienced workers on the job, while giving them training, education, and apprenticeship opportunities to learn new skills. At the same time it will reach out to a new generation of tradesmen and women and encourage them to use their skills and talents to find careers within a skilled trade that will help to pave the way to a fulfilling career and bright financial future.
