The mission of the Department of Accounting at Iowa State University is to:
   
-Prepare students to pursue diverse careers in business and accounting.
   
-Conduct quality research that emphasizes the linkages among the acquisition of new knowledge, accounting education, and practice.

-Engage in outreach and interaction with businesses, governmental agencies, and professional groups, consistent with the University’s land grant mission.

Consistent with this mission, the Accounting Advisory Board has been formed from leaders in the business and education community to help the department continuously improve both the undergraduate and graduate (MAcc) programs so that these programs best serve the needs of students, Iowa State University and the State of Iowa.
