SHARED VALUES AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The following shared values and guiding principles reflect the core values of a land-grant institution and specifically Iowa State University.

Theory and Research Linked with Practice. We believe that discovery of new ideas through research and creatively applying existing knowledge to advance and improve business practice is important. This linking of theory and research with practice provides relevant and rigorous learning environments for our students and faculty and establishes a foundation for the College’s outreach programs.

Collegiality and Collaboration. We believe in working together in a collegial fashion across disciplines within and external to the College of Business, based upon mutual respect and trust. We value partnerships and acknowledge and embrace the interdependencies we have with other colleges and with industry.

Ethical Behavior. We believe in conducting our work with honesty and professional ethics. We believe in promoting ethical behavior in our students.

Focus on Students. We believe that our educational programs must provide the learning environment, support and expectations necessary for our students to be successful. Our research and engagement activities should directly or indirectly enhance our students’ learning environment.

Technology and Change. We believe that technology, particularly information technology, should be at the core of all of the College’s programs in instruction, research, and outreach. We expect change and will respond in appropriate and innovative ways to an ever-changing global environment.

Diversity. We recognize the diversity of our constituents and value diversity in people and ideas. We believe that we must prepare our students to understand and work successfully in a business environment that will become increasingly diverse and international.
