Human Resources and Intern Coordinator

This position is comprised of two distinctly different, yet related jobs. It includes human resources coordination for staff of Lost Valley Center, Inc. as well as for our community interns, as follows:

Human Resources:

Guides our non-profit staff of 10-15 in creating and implementing functional HR systems and policies, including: expanding outreach for available positions, creating hiring and job training systems, procedures manuals, staff development and management training, workers' comp and unemployment benefits coordination, and more.

Qualifications include:

Strong administrative and communication skills. Prior staff management, Human Resources experience and/or education strongly preferred. Ability to juggle multiple tasks. Patient and flexible.

Basic computer skills: email, word processing, spreadsheets, internet.

Intern Coordination:

Lost Valley hosts a thriving intern program with 5-20 interns on-site throughout the year. Interns are an integral part of Lost Valley community life, living and working alongside our staff and community members to enrich their own learning and the world around them.

The Intern Coordinator works to bring skilled interns to Lost Valley to help support the non-profit staff and community, while simultaneously supporting the interns in creating a rewarding life experience during their time here.

Specific duties include:

  • Conducting recruiting and outreach efforts for intern positions, responding to inquiries and providing initial screening of applicants.
  • Managing receipt and tracking of intern applications, checking references. Supporting Lost Valley programs throughout hiring process.
  • Providing orientation to interns upon arrival and general support to interns on property.
  • Coordinating, and often facilitating, weekly Intern Gathering meetings.
  • Performing exit interviews with departing interns.
  • Working closely with Lost Valley programs and Finance department to manage organizational structure of intern program.
  • Working to maximize quality of community experience for interns at Lost Valley.

Qualifications and skills include:

Prior administrative and public-interface experience a must (customer service or hospitality work). Prior staff management experience a big plus. Good listener. Warm, objective and open-minded. Flexible and patient.

Excellent organizational and communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
