The DOE Office of Safety and Health (EH-5) conducted its May /21-23, 2002 workshop;
the first since the beryllium rule’s full compliance deadline, at the DOE Headquarters
building in Washington, D.C.

Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program (CBDPP)
Rule Implementation Workshop, CBDPP Plan Development Under 10 CFR Part 850, February 29 -
March 2, 2000
This workshop is the first in a series of workshops planned
to facilitate the development and implementation
of Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Programs
(CBDPP) consistent with the requirements of Title
10 CFR Part 850. Under the rule, employers are required
to submit a CBDPP plan to DOE by April 7, 2000.
The purpose of this workshop is to ensure the development
of comprehensive and effective CBDPP plans throughout
DOE. DOE Federal and contractor attendees with beryllium
responsibility will have an opportunity to discuss
rule requirements and intent, identify plan development
issues, and share cost-effective implementation
approaches. More information is contained in the

CBDPP Best Practices and Lessons Learned Workshop
The Office of Environment, Safety and Health and the Chicago Operations Office
co-sponsored a Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program Best Practices and Lessons
Learned Workshop, June 2-3, 1998, at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL)
in Argonne, Illinois. The purpose of the workshop was to provide sites with the opportunity
to share best practices and lessons learned resulting from site implementation of DOE Notice
440.1 requirements. DOE line managers, safety, health, and occupational medicine professionals,
