Analysis of Version 2 Data
- Things to
Watch Out For (Last updated 2008 Dec 9)
This frequently update page lists
- Calibration problems that have recently surfaced
- Hints on how best to run Suzaku specific software
|
Users of Version 2 data should update their Suzaku software to Version 6 or newer and also obtain the latest CALDB files.
- Suzaku FTOOLS Version 10 (Updated 2008 Sep 30)
- Calibration files and related files can be obtained from the CALDB page at GSFC or from the CALDB page at ISAS.
The following pages include information appropriate for v2.x data and software.
- Updated calibration of XRT + XIS (Posted 2008 Jul 31)
- Thickness of contamination on XIS0 (Updated 2008 Jun 18; Supercedes descriptions in the current ABC guide)
- Notes on V2.0/2.1 processed XIS data (Updated 2007 Dec 6)
- Updated gain calibration of SCI-on XIS data (2007 Nov 23; addendum on 2007 Dec 6)
- XISRMFGEN, the rmf generator for XIS (Updated 2007 Sep 26)
- XISSIMARFGEN: a ray-tracing based ARF generator (Updated 2007 Sep 19)
- Tips for faster spectral fits of XIS data (2007 Sep 19)
- How to Produce a Vignetting-Corrected XIS Image (Updated 2008 Jun 27, which has not yet propagated to the ABC guide.)
- Estimating the XIS
Non-X-ray Background (2008 Jul 9)
- A problem has been found in the latest NXB database of XIS1 for the SCI-off observations. Read further details. (2008 Sep 15)
- Contributed software (link to an MIT page):
ISIS modules
for Improved Attitude Correction and Pileup Estimation for
bright point sources observed with XIS (Posted 2008 Aug 14)
- New: HXD/PIN data taken since 2008 Sep 1
have been processed using an updated low energy threshold file.
Users should use an "epoch 5" PIN response file, but there
is no need for reprocessing of PIN data because of this change.
See PIN flare,
non X-ray background,
and cosmic background
pages for further details (2008 Dec 9)
- HXD/GSO background files for version 2.x processed data (2008 Jan 16; Addendum to the current ABC guide). All GSO data must be reprocessed (Updated 2008 Jun 27)
- HXD/PIN background files for version 2.x processed data (Updated 2008 Jun 18). This page links to the FTP area where the background fiels can be found, documents the usage of the background files for spectral and timing analyses, and also explains the proper response files to use depending on the epoch of the observation.
- A recipe for accounting for Cosmic X-ray Background in the PIN data (Updated 2008 Jun 27)
- HXD/PIN Flare Events after 28 July 2007 (2007 Sep 18)

Analysis of Early Release Data
ISAS/JAXA have released selected data from the early phase of the mission. As of this writing, mission-specific software has not been released. However, these early release data can be analyzed using multi-mission software.
