Abstract: The NOAA/NASA Pathfinder Program SSM/I Level 3 EASE-Grid ocean products consist of three data sets, marine wind speed, columnar water vapor, and cloud liquid water. The algorithms used to calculate these products were developed by Remote Sensing Systems (Wentz, 1988). NSIDC modified these algorithms to operate with the 25 km Equal-Area SSM/I Earth (EASE) Grid brightness temperatures. The ocean products have global (cylindrical projection) coverage and 25 km grid resolution. Daily files for each of the three data sets exist from 1 August 1987 through 30 November 1988, excluding 3 December 1987 through 12 January 1988. All data files are in Hierarchical Data Format (HDF).
