Description
 
NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Lenses for the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) Project. The scope of work for this procurement entails the Contractor providing the necessary labor, materials, equipment, management and facilities to fabricate, test, provide documentation for, and deliver each of the lenses in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW) and specifications. A draft copy of the SOW and Specifications will be posted with this synopsis. The final SOW and specifications will be provided with issuance of the RFP. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. NASA/GSFC anticipates awarding a Firm Fixed-Price type contract for this effort with an anticipated award date on or about April 28, 2009. The Government does not intend to acquire commercial items using FAR Part 12. See NASA Specific Numbered Note “26” -- this can be accessed at the following URL: http://genesis.gsfc.nasa.gov/nasanote.html . The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 333314 with a corresponding size standard in number of employees of 500. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about 1/7/09, with an anticipated offer closing date on or about 2/6/08. The actual due date for receipt of offers will be stated in the prospective RFP. Upon issuance of the RFP, all qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by this agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed -- see NASA Specific Numbered Note “B”. The prospective RFP and related documents (e.g., SOW and Specifications) for this procurement will be available via the Internet. Related documents will be provided in Microsoft Office 2003 format and these documents will be accessible on the World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
