NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the purchase of a COMSOL Multiphysics for all Platforms with a floating Network License and additional Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Import Module, Structural Mechanics Module, Heat Transfer Module and a Materials Library including maintenance and upgrades for 12 months.
1. COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Floating Network License for one (1) concurrent user.
2. CAD Import Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Floating Network License for one (1) concurrent user.
3. Heat Transfer Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Floating Network License for one (1) concurrent user.
4. Material Library for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Floating Network License for one (1) concurrent user.
5. Structural Mechanics Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Floating Network License for one (1) concurrent user.
NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from COMSOL Inc. because COMSOL has the ability to enter geometric elements into Finite Element Analysis(FEA) software via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and/or to transfer complete geometries into FEA software from CAD software and to have computational results displayed as color contours superimposed on the imput geometry.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
The synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. eastern local time on August 17, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
