Description
 
NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the purchase of laser crystal growth and blank slabs with the following specifications:

ITEM # 1 (QTY. 2)

Material: 0.5%Cr3+:1.0%Nd3+:YAG (SP Grade) Nominal Boule Dimensions*: 42-45 mm dia x 120 mm long Orientation: <111>

Absorption spectra from 300 nm to 1200 nm will be provide from samples obtained from the top and bottom of boule

ITEM # 8 (QTY. 1)

NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Scientific Materials Corporation because Scientific Materials Corporation uses proprietary technology to produce the laser crystals.

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.

DO Rating is DO-C9. The synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. eastern local time on July 18, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.

Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice.

All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
