Dr. May Wong joined NINDS in 2008 as a Program Director for the NeuroAIDS and Infectious Diseases in the Neuroenvironment cluster. Her program focuses on HIV-associated neurological disorders, infectious diseases of the nervous system, neurovirology, and Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease and other transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. Prior to joining NINDS, Dr, Wong was a Program Director for sixteen years at the National Cancer Institute where she oversaw a national multi-disciplinary extramural research program of basic and applied research on the role of DNA tumor viruses as possible etiological factors or cofactors in cancer causation and development. She received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Georgetown University.
