Rydell National Wildlife Refuge Staff Wins Award for Accessibility Innovation

The Minnesota Council on Disability has recognized the Rydell
National Wildlife Refuge staff with its Sports Innovation Award for 2008. The
staff received the award for the refuge’s work in promoting and providing
hunting opportunities for people with disabilities and the work it has done to
ensure its programming and facilities are accessible. They accepted the award at
a ceremony in St. Paul, Minn., on Nov. 6.The refuge has been partnering with OPTIONSInterstateCenter
for Independent Living for the past 13 years to host a deer-hunting weekend for
hunters with disabilities.The refuge also
has more than five miles of accessible trails that can be used for wildlife
observation.
