NASA/LaRC has a requirement for 1 year of software support and maintenance services for IDEAS, Nastran, Freeform Modeler, and Unigraphics NX Advanced Designer software bundles to include extra NX Open modules.
NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the services from Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software, Inc. to support geometry modeling tasks and ongoing studies for NASA projects. The acquisition of this software upgrade and maintenance would also support research and development of the framework used for unstructured grid generation. To ensure that project milestones are met, it is essential that these software packages continue to function and be kept up to date. The software has become proprietary to Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software, Inc. and they are the only source that can provide the required maintenance and technical support needed to maintain NASA systems.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on December 26, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
