NASA/GSFC Wallops Flight Facility TOPEX Radar Altimeter Support

Data Example Overview: The Observational Science Branch (OSB) TOPEX group performs engineering assessment and monitoring of the TOPEX dual-frequency altimeter (ALT) data. Daily summaries are formed from the ALT Instrument Files (AIF), and a summary AIF database is updated with various calibration, engineering, and waveform parameters. Another summary database is built for the Geophysical Data Records (GDR). The OSB GDR database contains 1-minute averages of selected science parameters for deep-water and non-flagged data; this database is updated weekly using the Intermediate GDRs (I/GDRs). When JPL releases the GDR tapes the I/GDR data are replaced by the GDR data in the database.
