  • 12 focus on Prevention

10 Data Collection and Storage

Resource & Patient Management System (RPMS)

  • Evolving since the 1970s
  • Over 50 software applications
  • Used at all IHS health care facilities and 95% of Tribal

14 Replacing Paper with EHR

  • Assess the impact on documentation of preventive screening when transitioning from a paper-based system to an electronic format.
  • Clinical Reporting System (CRS)
    • Produces on demand from local RPMS databases a printed or electronic report for any or all of over 300+ clinical performance measures, representing 50 clinical topics designed for national reporting as well as local and Area monitoring of clinical performance measures.

15 Replacing Paper with EHR

  • Documentation of information in the RPMS database is highly standardized.
    • One way to do it in the EHR…many (wrong) ways on paper
  • Electronic system provides clinical reminders
