E-ALERT: Volume 4, Number 4TASK FORCE FOR FAITH-BASED AND COMMUNITY INITIATIVES CONFERENCE AND GRANT ANNOUNCEMENTS The Road to Reentry: Charlotte, North Carolina This national conference is hosted by the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office, Western District of North Carolina, in partnership with the Office of Probation and Pretrial Services / Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Federal Bureau of Prisons, National Institute of Corrections, US Probation Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Over 500 participants from across the United States and other countries are expected to attend this conference to learn about "hands-on" practices and tools to implement offender workforce development initiatives and network with others who are implementing best practices and partnerships. Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is seeking applicants for its Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program. The Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program (Legal Assistance Program) is designed to strengthen civil and criminal legal assistance for victims of sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence, and dating violence through innovative, collaborative programs. These programs provide victims with representation and legal advocacy in family, immigration, administrative agency, or housing matters, protection or stay-away order proceedings, and other similar matters. The Legal Assistance Program is intended to increase the availability of civil and criminal legal assistance in order to provide effective aid to victims who are seeking relief in legal matters arising as a consequence of abuse or violence.
