TTB's main functions are:
- Investigating alcohol and tobacco permits for distilleries, wineries, breweries, and tobacco manufacturers, importers and exporters
- Regulating the alcohol and tobacco industries
- Preventing misleading labeling or advertising of alcohol beverages
- Conducting laboratory analysis of alcohol and tobacco products
- Collecting alcohol and tobacco excise taxes – TTB collects approximately $15 billion in taxes each year!
