Food Safety Leadership Awards Program

NSF International is very pleased to announce its call for nominations for the 2009 NSF Food Safety Leadership Awards Program. This awards program, now in its sixth year, is designed specifically to recognize the efforts of those extraordinary individuals and organizations in the foodservice industry that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and advancement in areas directly impacting food safety.

For more than 64 years, NSF has helped protect you by certifying products and writing standards for food, water, dietary supplements and consumer goods. Since its creation in 2004, the Food Safety Leadership Awards Program has brought together noteworthy experts from academia, industry and government to serve on a Selection Committee to recognize impressive individual achievements that have a positive, lasting impact for consumers and industry alike. In 2008, the winners included:

  • Daniel L. Engeljohn, Ph.D., Food Safety & Inspection Service, USDA
    Lifetime Achievement Award in Public Service
  • Paul A. Lachance, Ph.D., F.A.C.N., C.N.S.
    Lifetime Achievement Award in Education & Technology
  • Elizabeth A. Bugden, MS, Kids First

    Product Development Award
  • Jeanne Gleason, Ed.D., New Mexico State University - Media Productions
    Education and Training Award
  • Christine Moe, Ph.D., Emory University
    Research Advancement Award
  • The National Environmental Health Association
    Education and Training Award
  • Sterilox Food Safety Systems
    Equipment Design Award

The above awards are examples of individual creativity and innovation that culminate in the development of many groundbreaking advances.
