Onsite Monitoring Program

The NSF Onsite Monitoring Program was designed foremost to protect public health and communities by providing round-the-clock monitoring of advanced onsite wastewater systems, as well as verification of the service and maintenance that keeps these systems running smoothly.

Provided at no charge to regulatory agencies, the NSF Onsite Monitoring Program uses telephone and internet technology to provide peace of mind through continuous monitoring of onsite wastewater systems. A maintenance/service provider first installs a small communication device on an existing treatment system control panel and activates the account with NSF. The device then monitors all maintenance/service activity on the system and downloads it into a database. In alarm conditions, the system notifies the maintenance/service provider via cell phone, text message, and/or email and provides them the necessary information to determine necessary actions to take.

Information on contracted systems is then available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to the maintenance/service provider, the county public health officials, and property owners, via a secure online database. For maintenance/service providers, the program includes a wealth of additional business management and reporting tools to help improve the efficiency of their businesses.
