CGIN's Listserves

CGIN offers the following listserves:

  • A basic listserve for anyone interested in food co-ops, which is free to anyone interested, whether a member of CGIN or not.
  • A membership and marketing listserve, available for a yearly subscription fee of $30 to employees of natural food co-ops (CGIN members and non-members) and subject to approval.
  • A human resources listserve, available for a yearly subscription fee of $30 to employees of natural food co-ops (CGIN members and non-members) and subject to approval.
  • A co-op board members specialized listserve, available for a yearly subscription fee of $100 per natural food co-ops (CGIN members only) and subject to approval.

Basic listserve

CGIN’s basic listserve provides a forum to facilitate communication among food co-ops and those involved with food co-ops. CGIN’s listserve is open to anyone who would like to subscribe. All new subscribers who follow the instructions listed below to subscribe will receive a message listing the commands (e.g. how to unsubscribe, how to change the delivery mode) for using the listserve, as well as CGIN’s overall rules for the listserve.

We request that all listserve participants keep their comments focused on topics related to cooperatives and the operations of food co-ops. We will not allow our listserve to be used for commercial purposes.

Membership and marketing specialized listserve

The membership and marketing listserve was formed in 2003 at the Let’s SOAR (Share Our Abundant Resources) workshop at the CCMAconference. Founded and sponsored by the CoCoMaMas (& PaPas), the purpose of this listserve is to facilitate discussion and exchange of ideas and information about co-op membership and marketing at our food co-ops in order to improve the results of that work.

Listserve subscribers are individuals who are currently employed at a food co-op and engaged in membership and marketing work. Subscription cost is $30 per e-mail address.

HR specialized listserve

The HR listserve was formed after two years of e-mailing among a growing number of co-op managers with responsibilities in human resources (or as some co-ops call it, personnel administration). It springs from HR luncheon roundtables at the 2003 and 2004 CCMAconferences where topics of conversation were quite varied and interest was intense.

The purpose of this listserve is to facilitate discussion, provide some support, and share ideas and information about the many complex areas of concern to human resources employees at our food co-ops. We specifically intend to improve the results of that work.

Listserve subscribers are individuals who are currently employed at a food co-op and engaged in human resources. Subscription cost is $30 per year per e-mail address.

Co-op Board Specialized listserve

CGIN’s Co-op Board Members listserve is open to all current directors of CGIN members. The purpose of this listserve is to facilitate discussion and share ideas and information that promote good governance practices in food co-ops and strengthen food co-op boards.

Listserve subscribers are individuals who are currently board members at a food co-op. Subscription cost is $100 per year per co-op.
