Farmers' Markets & Beyond

Farmers' market and local food expert Nina Planck describes how farmers' markets benefit farmers, urban communities, consumers, and the environment. Nina grew up selling at farmers' markets in the Washington, DC area. In 1999 she created the first farmers' markets in London, England.  In 2003 she started a farmers' market in Washington, DC, and that same year she was Director of Greenmarket, the largest network of farmers' markets in the US, in New York City.  In New York City, Nina runs Real Food Markets for farmers, food artisans, and purveyors of regional and traditional foods.

In Farmers' Markets and Beyond, Nina explains how we need to develop and expand the market for regional and traditional foods to benefit farmers and eaters.
