Markets run deep in Nina's blood. At age nine, she began selling vegetables grown on the family farm in Loudoun County, Virginia at farmers' markets in the Washington, DC metro area. These markets are vitally important to small farmers. The Plancks have been growing vegetables since 1973 and making a living exclusively from farmers' markets since 1980. Today Nina runs outdoor markets for local foods in Washington, DC and London, England.

LOCAL FOOD: American Farmers' Markets
Local Food runs traditional producer-only farmers' markets. That means everything for sale has been raised, grown, produced, made, or baked by the person who sells it. All the food is local. At the Mount Pleasant Local Food Market, the region includes Washington, DC, and the five neighboring states - in other words, the farmland and waterways that serve the metropolitan region.

LONDON FARMERS' MARKETS: English Farmers' Markets

In 1999, Nina created the first producer-only farmers' market in London, England. Today London Farmers' Markets runs 15 farmers' markets in the capital famous for its ancient and modern street markets. All the food is raised, grown, produced, made, or baked by the person who sells it. The markets offer everything you can gather from England's farms, meadows, rivers, seas, and skies-all from within 100 miles of London.
