Subject: Jacquard: HDF 4.2r1 installed

Dear NERSC users, HDF 4.2r1 has been installed on Jacquard. This release of the HDF4 library includes several bug fixes and and performance enhancements to version 4.2r0. Please note, SZIP compression is broken in HDF4.2r0. Any data compressed with SZIP using HDF4.2r0 may or may not be accessible. HDF 4.2r1 has substantial bug fixes and changes in the use of SZIP. For more information on the new features and changes see HDF 4.2r1 release notes: http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/resources/software/libs/io/hdf/RELEASE-4.2r1.txt To access this new version use: "module load hdf/4.2r1". This version will become the default on June 20th, 2006. The current version, 4.2r0 will be disabled on July 11, 2006 and deleted soon thereafter.
